Salary range: $13.27 per hour

These positions are being offered on a casual basis consisting of approximately 30-50 hours per year.

Purpose:

The supply of tobacco to persons under the age of 19 years is illegal under the Smoke Free Ontario Act (SFOA).  To monitor compliance with the SFOA, under-aged test shoppers are hired to carry out compliance and enforcement checks (attempt to purchase tobacco products).  Test shoppers are age tested, trained and carry out activities under the supervision of a Tobacco Enforcement Officer

Preferred Background:

Candidates aged 15-17 years old with excellent verbal communication skills; must successfully meet age testing requirements.  A recent photograph to accompany resume is recommended.

Working Conditions:

Parental consent will be required; evening and weekend hours will be required.

Duties:

Candidates will be required to work with a Tobacco Enforcement Officer visiting local tobacco vendors to check the vendor’s willingness to sell tobacco products to persons under the age of 19.

Candidates must have excellent interpersonal communication skills and be able to observe and recall details of their activities for subsequent field notes.

Candidates will be required to appear in Provincial Offences Court as a witness as needed.
