Public Health Nurse, Middlesex-London Health Unit

Part time

The Middlesex-London Health Unit has a permanent part-time position for a Public Health Nurse on the Vaccine Preventable Disease team, within Communicable Disease and Sexual Health Services.

The successful candidate will perform a variety of duties, such as

  • Assist in the collaborative process of planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Vaccine Preventable Disease program
  • Directly provide vaccines through scheduled immunization clinics at Health Unit office sites, schools, the community, and in the event of an emergency
  • Develop and give presentations to small and large groups using a variety of teaching methods
  • Function within the mission, philosophy & policies of the Middlesex-London Health Unit;
  • utilize theory-based practice
  • Work collaboratively with communities, groups, families & individuals to enable them to enhance their health & prevent disease
  • Function as a member of Communicable Disease & Sexual Health Services teams & interdisciplinary teams
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements include

  • Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited nursing program
  • Current certificate of competence from the Ontario College of Nurses
  • Valid Ontario Driver's licence and own transportation
  • Excellent interpersonal & presentation skills
  • Basic computer skills in the areas of documentation, PowerPoint & database software
  • Flexible work hours are required
  • Preference will be given to those who have completed the Vaccine Preventable Disease Orientation program
  • Ability to speak French and other languages would be considered an asset
