National Survey Of Active Living/Physical Activity

In 1996 Active Living Canada & Health Canada, in partnership with the provincial and territorial governments, commissioned Synergistics Consulting to do a survey. The purpose was to "gauge the perception and uptake of active living by a broad sampling of community leaders throughout the country." The survey shows that the active living concept is widely understood and it is helping leaders make an impact as they address physical activity as a public health issue. But the findings also indicate that many issues still need to be addressed - for example many leaders say they need more support to enable them to apply the concept.
