November 7, 2017
8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
The Conference Board of Canada Head Office, 255 Smyth Road
The Conference Board of Canada explores several aspects of healthy active living within the Council for Healthy Living and as part the population health research mandate. Elements of a healthy and active lifestyle include the integration of appropriate levels of physical activity, nutrition, and sleep, while avoiding or limiting negative behaviours. Many argue that if an ounce of prevention is truly worth a pound of cure, then why do we continue to struggle to support Canadians in living healthy, active lives?
We will convene stakeholders from coast to coast to ‘move ahead’ to promote healthy living and active lifestyles across populations, prevent and manage chronic diseases, and create environments and conditions that support a high quality of life for all ages and all communities. Topics of discussion include creating healthy active living communities by addressing issues of physical activity and sedentary behaviour, sleep, nutrition, and smoking, and other factors that contribute to well- being and quality of life.
- Learn about the current landscape of healthy living in Canada, pan-Canadian activities to promote healthy behaviors, and the health and economic impact of reaching population health targets;
- Examine barriers and opportunities to improve healthy living from a life course and communities’ perspective; and
- Identify and Discuss priorities in achieving an all-encompassing healthy living vision for all ages and all communities.
