National Video Contest Encourages Youth to Keep Safety Top of Mind, Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety

The Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) invites youth across Canada to use their creativity to develop an original video that illustrates the importance of working safely on the job.

The CCOHS sponsored Focus on Safety Youth Video Contest offers three ways for youth to win:

  1. Provincial Podium: Each province and territory will hold its own contest with specific eligibility criteria, deadlines, and requirements. Links to each of these contests can be found on CCOHS’ Young Workers Zone website.
  2. National Stage: The winners of the provincial and territorial contests move onto the national stage. The first place video at the Canadian finals will win $2,000, second place will receive $1,500 and third place will receive $1,000. Each winning school or institution will also receive a matching prize.  In addition, the winning videos will also be showcased during the national launch of North American Occupational Safety and Health Week (NAOSH) in May 2018.
  3. Fan Favourite: The top videos from the provincial and territorial contests will also be posted online from Thursday, April 26, 2018 to Thursday, May 3, 2018, where viewers in Canada can vote for their favourite video. The video that receives the most votes will receive an additional $1,000 prize.

Each province/territory has set its own deadline.
