Free Motivational Interviewing Workshops Offered by The Lung Association - Ontario

Are you a health-care professional and interested in Motivational Interviewing?

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a “collaborative, person-centered form of guiding to elicit and strengthen motivation for change” (Miller and Rollnick, 2009).  MI has a robust evidence base across a range of health behaviors, including respiratory health care.

The Ontario Lung Association is offering FREE MI workshops for health-care professionals across Ontario. These workshops are facilitated by health-care professionals who have attended the Training Enhancement in Applied Cessation Counselling and Health (TEACH) Project at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.

Workshops are available as a full day, half day or one hour session and can be catered to your group’s knowledge of MI. Please click here for draft agendas for each session length available. These workshops can be offered at local health-care centres upon request or a session in a local community can be organized with other local groups. Any health-care professional can benefit from the session, such as Certified Respiratory Educators, tobacco cessation specialists, diabetes educators, Registered Nurses, pharmacists, and behavior change counsellors. Half day or full day sessions will have catering provided to all participants at no cost.
