New Resource--Measuring the policy-making process, Public Health Ontario

Developing policy is a complex process and evaluating the policy-making process can be even more complicated. Public Health Ontario (PHO) is happy to announce the release of a new resource — Focus On: Measuring the policy-making process (

PHO completed an academic literature review that looked at how four widely cited theories could be used to develop a set of indicators to measure the policy-making process. Although no indicators were found during our review, PHO did identify guiding questions to help measure the planning stage of policy-making. These questions align with the first four steps of PHO’s eight step model for developing healthy public policies:
