Call for Participants--SPARC Network Summit

Deadline October 3, 2014

Supporting Performing Arts in Rural Communities (SPARC) invites individuals involved in the performing arts in rural and remote communities to participate in a 2-day Network Summit.

November 14-16 2014
Haliburton Highlands

SPARC’s vision is to bring together rural creators, producers, presenters and animateurs to sustain and grow the performing arts in rural communities. We strongly believe that the performing arts have a positive impact on the economic health and wellbeing of rural and remote communities.

The goal for the Network Summit is to explore, identify and co-create a network for performing arts in rural communities that has a positive impact, is accessible, requires low management and is a vital resource; to identify key challenges, innovations and opportunities that continually impact the performing arts in rural and remote communities; and to bring together communities, regional and national, to interact, share and collaborate.

Deadline October 3, 2014

Living and working rurally brings unique challenges and inventive solutions. Building a rural performing arts network is based upon the values of community, creativity, collaboration and communication – and we can’t do it without you. SPARC is looking for enthusiastic, engaged individuals who will take an active part in the creation of the SPARC Network and become representatives for their community and local networks.

Generous funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation has provided support for the Network Summit as well as 14 youth and other individuals from Ontario to attend. Individuals from across Canada are invited to attend, but must be able to cover their accommodation, food and travel costs.

Youth (ages 16-29) are an important part of SPARC. Youth are invited to apply but can also be nominated – do you know a youth in your area working in the performing arts? Nominate them today! Be sure to connect with that Youth to ensure they are available and willing to attend the full two-day conference.

Applications must be received no later than Friday October 3rd, 2014 at 11:55 p.m.
