Mississauga, Ontario
May 13 & 14, 2013

10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Peel Addiction Assessment and Referral Centre, 5170 Dixie Road, 3rd Floor

This 2-day intensive workshop outlines the full recruitment and selection process, from determining job requirements and criteria to presenting a job offer. Participants will learn the principles of Criteria-Based Recruitment and how to design an effective process. Day 1 will focus on attracting candidates, screening techniques, reference checks and making offers. Day 2 will focus on how to design and conduct interviews that effectively assess job-related skills and behaviours.

Featuring the video, More Than a Gut Feeling III, the session promotes in-depth learning of the most effective and well-respected approach to employment interviews. Participants will observe and discuss behavioural interviews, learn the key concepts and principles, and have the opportunity to try out new skills and receive feedback.

As a result of this workshop participants will be able to enhance organizational hiring effectiveness by learning:

  • How to ensure that all hiring activity is criteria-based
  • How to construct relevant and job-related interview questions
  • How to probe for more information and to seek contrary evidence
  • How to avoid the most common legal pitfalls of employment interviewing
  • How to use other tools to effectively assess candidates (reference checks, testing, personality profiles, scoring mechanisms, simulations)

To get the most out of this session, participants should bring with them a job description for a position that they will need to hire for and come prepared to participate in extensive role-playing.

Participants may attend one OR both days.

Facilitator: Linda Spence

Cost: $229 plus HST per day ($258.77 per day, includes lunch & all materials, parking is free)
