Under the direction of the Senior Manager, Community Integration & Promotion, the Senior Coordinator is responsible for promoting Smokers’ Helpline services including telephone, online and text, throughout the Ontario North East Region, to increase service awareness and utilization.
This position works out of the Ontario North East Region located in Sudbury.
Duties & Responsibilities
Primary Functional Duties
- Collaborate with regional cessation services and service providers to promote Smokers’ Helpline and increase utilization
- Represent and promote Smokers’ Helpline services and promotional initiatives as well as centralized operations at local/regional levels
- Collaborate with regional cessation services and service providers to coordinate Smokers’ Helpline services with local tobacco control programs and to create two-way referral mechanisms
- Contribute to the development and implementation of regional/provincial promotional activities
- Contribute to the ongoing maintenance of a database of regional evidence-based cessation services
- Other duties as assigned by Manager
Health and Safety Responsibilities
- Work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations (Use or wear any protective equipment or devices required, report any incidents and unsafe conditions to your manager, and do not use equipment or work in any way that may endanger any worker or volunteer).
- Review and comply with the Canadian Cancer Society’s health & safety policy.
- Post-secondary degree in a related discipline (health promotion, health studies or health sciences) areas and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar type of position.
- Developed verbal and written communication skills. Experience in developing and delivering presentations to varying target audiences.
- Understanding of tobacco control issues and cessation strategies
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with a multi-level non-profit or community health organization.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, relationship building and strategic thinking skills.
- Flexibility, ability to deal with competing priorities.
- Valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle as travel will be required.
- Computer literate, proficient in MSOffice (Word/Excel).
- Ability to communicate, both verbally and written, in English and French is a definite asset.
- Knowledge of Canadian Cancer Society policies and procedures is an asset.
- A criminal record check is required.
