One of the goals of the Ontario government’s Action Plan for Health Care includes reducing childhood obesity by 20 per cent over five years.  Obesity can lead to diseases like diabetes, cancer and heart disease, and costs Ontario’s health care system $4.5 billion.

To this end, the Healthy Kids Panel was convened to recommend strategies for keeping more kids at healthy weights. The panel submitted its report, No Time to Wait: The Healthy Kids Strategy, to the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care in March 2013.
