This week's feature is "Child Health and the Environment- A Public Policy Perspective," by Susanne Burkhardt, Policy Analyst, Canadian Partnership for Children's Health and Environment. In her introduction she writes "Environment is a determinant of health that has, until recently, received relatively little attention. However, a growing body of research indicates that substances in the environment can and do affect child health and development. To raise the public profile of children's environmental health issues among parents, caregivers, service providers who work with children, and decision makers, CPCHE has adopted a multi-pronged approach that includes research, education, and active participation in the public policy process."
