HANDLE WITH CARE? Women living with metastatic breast cancer

In 1997 a research team based at the Toronto-Sunnybrook Regional Cancer Centre conducted focus groups in eight communities across Ontario with women who had metastatic breast cancer. 'Metastatic' breast cancer has spread beyond the breast to some other part of a woman's body, like her bones or her lungs. It is a condition for which there is treatment but usually no cure.


PARENTS AGAINST DRUGS (PAD)

Parents Against Drugs (PAD) is celebrating it's 15th Anniversary and with Mayor Mel Lastman as their patron, they plan a unique evening to celebrate and raise funds.

On October 27, from 6:30pm - 9pm, at the Civic Garden Centre, 777 Lawrence Ave. East, a silent auction will be held to raise needed funds to keep the education and prevention activities of PAD ongoing.

PREPARING FOR DRUG AWARENESS WEEK

Toronto Drug Awareness Coalition (TDAC) is sponsoring its second Forum of the year for service providers. The Topic; "Preparing for Drug Awareness Week, 1998"



On October 1, from 9am - 1pm, PHNs, police officers, and representatives from community organisations will hear from their colleagues about "what works" in drug awareness activities as well as network with their peers to address community needs around drug issues.
