Registered Nurse, Canadian Mental Health Association, Peel

In this role, you will be responsible for providing direct care including but not limited to:  conducting comprehensive assessment of psychiatric history, mental status, and diagnosis; providing medication administration, venipuncture and other medical services; organizing and managing the system of getting medication to clients and integrating medication administration into clients' individual treatment plans; making appropriate referrals to community physicians for further assessment and treatment; and coordinating psychiatric treatment with medical treatment.

The successful candidate should have the following qualifications:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario;
  • Experience in mental health and/or community nursing;
  • Demonstrated capacity to work effectively in a team;
  • Excellent assessment, crisis intervention and problem solving skills; and
  • Sound knowledge of the principles of Psychiatric Rehabilitation, Mental Health Reform and Legislation, and psychotropic medication.
