Women’s Harm Reduction and Community Safety Health Promoter, South Riverdale Community Health Centre
Full-time Position
South Riverdale Community Health Centre is a non-profit, multi-service centre that provides primary health care, social and community outreach services with an emphasis on health promotion to residents of Riverdale and South East Toronto.
The South Riverdale Community Health Centre requires a Health Promoter for the Women's Harm Reduction and Community Safety project.
The Health Promoter will work as a member of the Urban Health Team and the COUNTERfit Harm Reduction Program. The Health Promoter will work with women who use illicit drugs and/or do sex work, community partners and staff of the Centre. The Health Promoter will be responsible for the development and implementation of community based programs for women, advocating for and developing accessible and inclusive services at SRCHC and with community partners.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years community based experience within a community setting
- Experience working with people who are homeless, living with mental illness or addictions and/or complex health needs from a harm reduction perspective
- Experience and demonstrated ability in community development, advocacy and grant writing
- Knowledge / experience of Primary Care issues and challenges
- Awareness of and sensitivity to the health issues of a diverse community and experience working with disenfranchised populations.
- Excellent leadership, planning, and communication skills
- Demonstrated interpersonal, decision making, conflict management, critical thinking and organizational skills
- Commitment to valuing diversity, equity, partnerships and advocacy in keeping with South Riverdale Community Health Centre's Strategic Directions.
- Must also be drug and sex positive.
