Bring your applied knowledge of diversity issues, challenges and trends, current emergency management practices and related legislation to the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services` Emergency Management Ontario. A motivated, dynamic individual with a valid driver`s licence, you will provide strategic outreach to the diverse communities within the province, provincially oriented organizations, advocacy groups and industry, to enhance the diverse communities resilience to disasters. The engagement of communities will be done in partnership with municipalities and other stakeholders on a variety of emergency management programs, including public education and awareness. This position involves being on-call on a regular basis.
Qualifications: applied knowledge of diversity issues/challenges/trends, current emergency management theories/practices/issues/trends/programs, and related legislation/regulations, i.e., Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act, Regulation 380/04, Municipal Act, Human Rights Code; proven research, analytical, evaluation skills to conduct needs assessments; proven communication and interpersonal skills to deliver presentations, briefings, proposals and training to peers/senior management and diverse audiences; understanding of the structures/roles of various levels of government; proficiency in using a variety of software programs, i.e., MS Office Suite; ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, use good judgment, tact and diplomacy in critical situations, and pass federal/provincial security checks; valid drivers licence; willingness to work irregular/extended hours for extended periods, particularly during emergencies, and travel outside of Ontario and Canada.
