Position Title: Community Mission Volunteer (Health Promotion and Advocacy)
Purpose: To support the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario (HSFO), and the Community Mission Specialist, in fulfilling its vision as an organization that, through advocacy and health partnerships, engages communities, health care providers and government to advance the health of Ontarians, particularly in the prevention of Heart Disease and Stroke.

Responsibilities
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of Healthy Weights (Daily Physical Activity in schools and access to active living) and Resuscitation (AED's and PAD programs) activities across the region;
- Raise awareness of The Heart & Stroke Foundation resources and/or programs as appropriate;
- Support public awareness efforts in the local area and build and maintain local partnerships regarding healthy weights, AED's, coordinated stroke strategy etc...;
- Advocate for issues pertinent to government priorities and programs relating to heart disease and stroke prevention;
- Liaise and collaborate with the Community Mission Specialist and Mission Committee to ensure appropriate representation and involvement at local/regional events;
- Contacting and collecting data from multicultural communities and developing relationships with people/organizations within the multicultural community to support advocacy and health partnership activities.
Skills/Experiences/Knowledge
- Foundation ambassador; strong presentation and leadership skills and able to inform and communicate effectively and with passion;
- Strong interest in healthy lifestyles and commitment to heart and stroke prevention;
- Achieves results and works through others; able to work in team and act as a community leader;
- Knowledge of the Health Care System in Ontario is preferred.
