Francophone Health Promotion Specialist, www.femmesensante.ca, Women’s College Hospital

www.femmesensante.ca and www.womenshealthmatters.ca are the consumer websites of Women's College Hospital.  The website team has received funding from Industry Canada for a 9 month project aimed at providing Francophone women with improved support and access to women's health information and support in French.  We are currently seeking a Francophone Health Promotion Specialist to staff the project.

This is an excellent opportunity to work with a dedicated team of women's health experts to increase access to reliable French-language women's health information. Location: Toronto.

Duration of contract:  June 15th, 2007 to March 20, 2008. 5 days per week

Reporting to the Director, Women's Health Partnerships, the Francophone Health Promotion Specialist is responsible for the development and execution of all project activities including:

  • Developing an inventory of Francophone women's health and consumer organizations and experts
  • Planning and executing a promotion strategy to promote www.femmesensante.ca to Francophone women's and women' s health organizations
  • Recruiting these organizations and experts as project partners for the purpose of participating as experts and discussion board moderators
  • Coordinating the operation of online discussion boards and Ask the Expert features on www.femmesensante.ca
  • Working with Francophone organizations to promote the new website features to their target audiences
  • Liaising with partner organizations
  • Assisting in the preparation of reports (financial and written) to Industry Canada
  • Tracking all project activities

Knowledge and Experience Required

  • Fluently bilingual (French and English)
  • Knowledge of women's health issues and health promotion principles
  • Experience working with Francophone women's health organizations
  • Excellent writing, editing, and oral communication skills in both official languages
  • Experience with web based health information services including interactive web based features
  • Experience building a network of organizations
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Computer skills:  Microsoft word, HTML, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Excel, Spreadsheets, PowerPoint, Desk top Publishing
  • Experience developing health promotion plans
  • Ability to collaborate with non-profit organizations, government and other team members
  • Results-oriented individual, able to meet deadlines and work both independently and as a team player

Educational Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Health Promotion, Health Education, Women's Studies or equivalent.  
  • Three years practical experience developing and implementing a health promotion program.

Salary Range: $56,000 to $59,000 per annum
