Qualitative Research Interviewer, Research Study, University of Toronto
Duration: February-July 2003, possibility of extension
Weekly hours: eight to twelve hours per week, variable
Compensation: $21.64/hr + 4% vacation pay
Researchers at the University of Toronto are conducting a study of nutritional vulnerability among homeless youth. We are inviting individuals (especially youth) who have experience working with youth and/or marginalized groups to apply to be interviewers.
Working under the supervision of the study coordinator, the qualitative research interviewer will conduct multiple, in-depth, open-ended interviews with a sample of homeless youth recruited from various agencies and street locations. In consultation with the study coordinator and study investigators, the interviewer will also be responsible for conducting preliminary analyses of the interview data.
Qualifications, experience, skills
The ideal candidate will have some post-secondary education, experience conducting qualitative research interviews and a demonstrated ability to establish rapport with homeless youth. The candidate must be able to work both independently and as a member of a team. He or she must possess excellent interpersonal skills, excellent communication and interviewing skills and strong analytic skills.
