Injury Prevention Information Specialist, Safe Kids Canada


Temporary Full-time Contract



Department: Safe Kids Canada, the national injury prevention program of the

Hospital for Sick Children

Available: Immediately



Description of the Position: You will keep abreast of timely, relevant information and emerging issues by gathering information and by liaising with injury prevention organizations and government. You will maintain Safe Kids Canada's Issues Book and ensure that the book is revised regularly and contains comprehensive, timely information on injury prevention. You will keep staff informed about updates and changes to information and about emerging issues in injury prevention. You will recommend development of new position statements or changes to existing statements as new information is identified or as issues arise. You will identify additional or new information that should be conveyed to the public through fact sheets, web sites or phone lines. You will research and write background documents on specific issues as requested. You will compile and maintain resource library of injury

prevention materials. You are required to represent Safe Kids Canada on external committees.



Qualifications: Undergraduate degree in Health Sciences with a minimum of five years experience or equivalent combination of education and expertise.



You have excellent judgement skills, leadership abilities, can work independently and as part of a team. You have computer expertise regarding the Internet, databases and word processing. You have evaluation and assessment skills relating to information collection.

Hours: 35 hours/week

Salary: Commensurate upon experience
