The Oral Complications of Cancer Therapy--The Clinical Information Needs of Ontario Dental Practitioners

The Ontario Dental Oncology Group (ODOG) is communicating with health-care administrators at cancer centers that lack specialized dental services to assist in the planning for these services. Services need to include access to dental consultation, radiographic examination, treatment planning prior to cancer treatment and follow-up to minimize any oral complications resulting from cancer treatment. The rate of oral complications in cancer care is about 33-39%. There is a desire among dental practitioners to learn more about these types of patients.
