Advanced Supervision: Managing in the Future

Sessions will be held in Hamilton on September 25 and Toronto on Oct 29.

With complexity and constant change characterizing the workplace, the art of management has become a dynamic process. To succeed in the future, managers will need to think about the capabilities and the mindset they bring to the job. The importance of learning to develop ourselves, understand our strengths and develop our competency, and that of our employees, will be instrumental to discovering where each of us can make the greatest contribution to our organizations. Through this workshop, managers will understand how leadership styles--and the emotional intelligence capabilities that each requires--affect an organization's climate and performance; explore the difference between the art of communication and its medium and engage in 'peoplistic' communication; learn to manage talent--how to identify and capitalize on each employee's strengths and strategically place them in the right position; discover how people learn and what managers can do to facilitate the process for individuals and teams; and identify proven approaches to resolving conflict by recognizing their own conflict styles and implementing problem-solving techniques.

Through an interactive mix of brief presentations on leading edge of thought and practice, lively discussion, role-play and activities for immediate application at work, this workshop will provide deeper insights into management's role in the future.
