From intake to crisis and along the front lines in mental health and child welfare, workers are exposed to extraordinary stressors and are often witness to significant traumatic content and systems failures. Unfortunately, many of our front line service staff (including mental health, residential, youth corrections, hospital staff, admin and clinical) are not readily able to identify the symptoms of PTSD. Without this knowledge, they go on trying to manage day-to-day with an almost unmanageable illness. This training will provide an overview of PTSD - what is it and how to recognize it, as well as what to do about it.
- Identify the signs and symptoms of PTSD, early intervention methods and ways to manage symptoms
- Determine treatment options for utilizing various treatment approaches such as CBT, DBT, EMDR, sensorimotor psychotherapy
