The Lead, Health Status Assessment (HSA) has a key leadership role in the Population, Public, and Indigenous (PPIH) portfolio and reports directly to the Director, Surveillance and Reporting (S and R). This position is responsible for providing expertise, direction, and leadership for the HSA team and more broadly supporting PPIH and Alberta Health Services (AHS). Working closely with the Director of Surveillance and Reporting, the members of the HSA team, and the Lead for the Public Health Surveillance team, the Lead HSA manages routine and ad-hoc health status assessment activities and projects, guides and contributes to completion of projects (including development of health status dashboards) using expertise and current best practices in epidemiological methods and statistical data analysis, while appropriately managing people and resources. The scope of health status assessment projects and activities includes, but is not limited to, creating and disseminating information on the health of the population at desired geographic levels with reference to the vital statistics, morbidity (including injury), behavioral risk factors, and social determinants of health; with a particular focus on health equity. The Lead HSA develops and maintains strong working relationships with key stakeholders and assigns priorities to information requests and delegates work accordingly to meet the needs of AHS decision makers, program planners, and external partners. The Lead HSA develops standard processes, ensures quality, and has administrative accountability for the HSA team. All Management and Out Of Scope positions are being reviewed for possible inclusion in the AUPE General Support Services bargaining unit.
