The Kingston Military Family Resource Centre (KMFRC) is a registered non-profit, charitable organization that supports and enhances the health and well-being of the military community. The KMFRC is Kingston’s primary agency dedicated to meeting the unique needs of the military community. Programs and services are designed to promote community development and to provide social, educational and volunteer opportunities, empowering the military community and enhancing their health and well-being.

Registered Social Worker or Registered Psychotherapist (2 positions)

Salary Range: $48,077 - $56,243

The Kingston Military Family Resource Centre requires two full-time positions for its Mental Health Team: One Family Liaison Prevention, Support and Intervention Worker-Bilingual and one Prevention, Support and Intervention Worker–Bilingual.

The Family Liaison, Prevention, Support and Intervention Worker- Bilingual and the Prevention, Support and Intervention Worker-Bilingual positions are responsible for providing counselling services and other supports for the families of Canadian Armed Forces members (CAF). The Family Liaison, Prevention, Support and Intervention Worker- Bilingual has a special focus on families of the ill, injured, and those who have died. Both positions involve working with military families; including initial and continued contact, assessment and referral, short term individual, couple and family counselling and/or crisis intervention, group work, program development, and educational services.

Minimum qualifications:

  • University degree in relevant Mental Health Field (e.g. Social Work, Counselling, Psychology) with 2 years of related clinical experience. Master’s degree in a behavioural science preferred.
  • Registered with Ontario College of Social Workers (OCSW), College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, or The College of Psychologists of Ontario.
  • Fluent French and English preferred.
  • Exceptional understanding of the unique military lifestyle issues facing CAF families.
  • Experience in providing services for individuals, couples, children and families.
  • Proven experience working directly with families, groups and communities, especially around loss, grief, and trauma
  • Good knowledge of community resources.
