Chestnut Conference Centre
For over thirty years, the National Eating Disorder Information Centre (NEDIC) has provided Canadians with support, education and resources in the area of eating disorders and their related issues. We have made a difference in the health and education of children, teens and their families in communities nationwide.
On May 11th and 12th, 2017, we will be holding our 6th Biennial Body Image and Self-Esteem Conference in partnership with the University of Toronto. It will address key issues being faced across the country by families, educators, health professionals, and adult influencers in the areas of nutrition, mental health, social justice, body image and self-esteem. This year’s theme is Awareness. Equity. Acceptance. This conference is a unique interdisciplinary educational experience that offers rare specialized training in body image and self-esteem, and provides innovative, practical skills that can be applied immediately in clinical settings, classrooms, and beyond. Keynote speakers will include Drs. Linda Bacon, Niva Piran, and Jon Robison.
Presentations and workshops will cover a broad array of topics, including:
- social determinants of health
- body image issues among GBTQ individuals
- body-based stigmatization
- community-based eating disorder treatment
- eating disorder prevention
