Parachute is pleased to announce its next event: Canada’s Vision Zero Summit. This not-to-be-missed event will bring together leaders in health, traffic safety and engineering, police enforcement, policy-makers, local government and corporate partners to develop and share winning strategies for implementation of Vision Zero.
8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Vision Zero is a multi-national traffic safety initiative with the main goal of Vision Zero is to achieve zero fatalities or serious injuries on the road. Founded in Sweden in the late 1990s, the movement is gained international recognition, with the Government of Canada embracing Vision Zero in a new road safety strategy.
Lead by Parachute, this summit will examine the implementation of Vision Zero in Canada, drawing on international examples of Vision Zero and their application to Canada. Examples will include Sweden, Edmonton and New York City's implementation of Vision Zero road safety initiatives. Speakers will be drawn from Canadian and international road safety leaders and researchers, including Dr. Matts-Åke Belin, Swedish Transport Administration (invited) and Gerry Shimko, Edmonton Office of Traffic Safety (invited). Further details will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
The Summit will be followed by a reception where Canadian and international leaders in road safety will be recognized.
