Community Living Cambridge invites candidates to apply for the position of Executive Director.

The Executive Director will be responsible for the development, administration and delivery of services operated by Community Living Cambridge according to the policies and procedures established by the Board, Government regulations and Ministry guidelines. The Executive
Director represents the Association, interacting with clients and their families, community partners, government personnel, other service providers and the public.

Founded in 1954 by interested parents, enthusiastic community groups and representatives were brought together to support individuals with developmental disabilities. Community Living Cambridge (CLC) has grown from a school with a principal and one teacher for 12 children to an agency providing a wide range of individualized services for approximately 400 individuals of all ages. Funded by the Ministry of Community and Social Services, CLC and delivers a wide spectrum of supports and services for children and adults with a developmental disability.

Reporting to the Board, the Executive Director (ED) will be primarily responsible for the efficient management and direction of the Association, ensuring that the intent and purpose of the Constitution, Bylaws and Policies are effectively carried out.

The incumbent is a strong leader with integrity and great empathy for CLC’s clients and their families. S/he has the ability to build strong networks with government and community stakeholders. An excellent manager and mentor, the successful candidate will have a demonstrated success leading productive team. With 7 – 10 years in the developmental disabilities services sector (and 5 – 7 years at the senior management level) the successful candidate will have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding and experience working with Developmental Disabilities Services and working with the Ministry and the funding models. This is a highly visible position requiring strong leadership and good communication and presentation skills.

Good financial acumen is a key competency required in this role as the 2012 budget is $13 million.

The successful candidate must have experience in board governance and leading boards through the strategic planning process.  The opportunity exists for the new ED to shape the strategic plan for the next 5 years by leading the Association in its next strategic planning process. The goal is to build on CLC’s success and to build a sustainable fund development program. The Executive Director must provide leadership in respect to revisions, modifications or reorganization of the services, within the scope of Community Living Cambridge and in keeping with the trends and changes in service demands.
