The mission of OTRU is to undertake a program of research, development, and dissemination of knowledge about effective tobacco control programs and policies. This position is involved in the performance of highly complex functions related to the overall monitoring and evaluation of the Smoke-Free Ontario Strategy (SFOS). Reporting to the Director of Evaluation and Monitoring, the incumbent will be involved in the conduct of evaluative research studies, with a focus on data management, processing and analysis. This work will underpin the province's tobacco control activities and inform research addressing social, economic, health and other public health policy related questions.
- Education: Master’s degree or better in the health or social sciences, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience: Three to five years experience conducting high-level data analysis (SAS, STATA), surveillance, monitoring, performance measurement, evaluation research. Knowledge of public health, tobacco control programs and policy, and tobacco control research would be an advantage.
- Other: PC in Windows environment; data processing including data management, statistical analysis, indicator development, stakeholder relations, report and manuscript writing; project management; word-processing and presentation software; Internet and email; consulting skills. Experience with SQL an asset. Ability to work independently and in concert with others in a fast-paced research environment; excellent data interpretation skills; exceptional writing and editing skills; flexibility to work on multiple projects; demonstrated ability in project planning and design; highly developed organizational and time management skills; excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
