Employment Opportunity

Anishnawbe Health Toronto, an accredited community health centre seeks a RN EC Registered Nurse who will function as an effective member of a multi-disciplinary health team.

The RN EC Registered Nurse will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Provide appropriate treatment based upon health history, physical examination and diagnosis
  • Management and follow-up of client’s treatment regimen
  • Provide counseling, education, advocacy, health promotion, internal referrals and follow-up
  • Perform duties within the clinic, at outreach sites, through home visits, during client hospitalization and through the Babishkhan (outreach) unit as scheduled and through on-call duty
  • Contribute to the development of policies, procedures, protocols, medical directives and best care practices
  • Develop programs for health promotion and disease prevention for high incident pathologies, i.e. tuberculosis, hypertension, diabetes and addictions

Demonstrated Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong work and organizational skills
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills
  • Strong consultation and collaboration skills
  • Strong advocacy skills
  • Ability to function independently within profession’s established parameters
  • Computer skills (minimum intermediate level) with Purkinje software knowledge an asset
  • Knowledge and appreciation of health and other issues facing Aboriginal communities such as the effects of the post colonial and residential school syndromes
  • Appreciation and understanding of homelessness

Qualifications:

  • RN EC Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Ability to travel to work locations away from assigned office (driver’s license an asset)
